I couldn’t resist the new 2024 pink colorway for the Kromski Presto loom. I’ve been looking for a 10 inch rigid heddle used but haven’t had much luck—the few listings for that size I found were too expensive for used. This is about what I was seeing for used ones so I went for it.
It is tiny but I thought it would be nice to have one I can easily use on the coffee table at night since we are on the last project from our knitting book and I’ll have more time. My other looms are a little too big to do that comfortably and without having to move things around.
I warped it up today I think I overdid it a little, I’m a little sore in my stomach area when I’m bending over! It’s a strange movement to repeat again and again.
The big issue is that I really need a taller table to work with, the coffee table is too low to clamp the loom to. I have a taller little table I put the warping peg on for direct warping so a foldable table that height would be perfect. Warping is my least favorite part and I don’t want another excuse not to do it! My goal is to warp up most/all of my looms early in the year so I can spend the rest of the year actually weaving. Last year was a lot more spinning and knitting than weaving.

It’s a scarf using the yarn it came with but the yarn was really splitty and I had to start over a few times.
I had to cut some off the loom and I’m not sure if there is enough for the weft which was what I had expected so I will have to figure that out. Maybe I will add in some of my home-dyed marigold yarn? I have some variegated yellow from a knitting pattern I unraveled that might work too.
I’m a little disappointed the yarn was so uneven. I expected better quality control from Kromski. I was tempted to use another yarn all together but I didn’t have any wound up and wanted to get it warped and done. It was just very thin in parts and wore through when I was pulling it through the slots.
The loom itself was easy to put together and although I haven’t woven on it yet, it didn’t move when I finished threading the heddles and it wasn’t clamped down anymore.
I look forward to actually weaving on it! I wish additional heddles also came in pink.
