Tour de Fleece Day 2: Wrestling with Wool

Today was a little rough, I had a migraine and didn’t start spinning until way after dinner.

I started using some kettle dyed Falkland I got at the Landis Valley Harvest Festival last year and it was so tight! I don’t know how else to explain it. Compressed? I tried to core spin it with some crochet cotton but I felt like I was wrestling with it. Even with some drafting it felt rough.

I tried just spinning it and that wasn’t better.

I finally got my new drum carder out and made two batts with it and added some white Shetland I had on hand to make up for the parts that were wasted in the beginning.

Hopefully that will work better? I’m too tired to worry with it tonight after almost two hours of trying to get any spun.

Here are the batts but they are actually much more purple in real life.

I also realized I need more bobbins because I couldn’t just switch to another fiber without trashing what I was able to spin because I wouldn’t have enough bobbins to ply something else.
