Naughty & Nice Cowl

This was kind of a blah project. I ordered the kit for something easy to do while my husband recovered from surgery in early November.

It took a full month to arrive even though there was nothing on the listing that said it wasn’t ready to ship. I noticed a couple weeks after I ordered they started to include that information on the listing. I would not have ordered it if I knew it would take so long to arrive. I didn’t contact them but I bet someone else complained and that’s why they added that info.

It’s weird to have a holiday themed kit launch in November and then ship it too late to give as a gift made or the kit itself.

I should have ordered it from the yarn store I first saw it on but I clicked through to who made it—Madelinetosh—and thought I’d order it directly from them so probably got to keep more of the sale.

The yarn (Madelinetosh ASAP in Ugly Christmas Sweater) was okay but almost felted in a couple spots. The dye job looked very amateurish.

The pattern by Lena Skvagerson was easy but poorly written. It would say repeat from * but there was only one * at the beginning of the direction and no closing * if you follow what I’m saying. It also said to repeat rounds 2-6 once when it would have been shorter to rewrite the instructions. That’s a pet peeve of mine but I know it’s pretty common to write it that way. It was just sloppy feeling for such a short pattern.

Anyway, it came out fine. I made a couple little mistakes because the yarn was so busy and garish it was hard to see the stitches but I’m glad to be done with it. I don’t think you can tell because of the yarn and how uneven it was spun.

I won’t buy anything from them again between the yarn not being great and it taking forever to arrive.
