My dad’s health has deteriorated and he was in the hospital for a month. At the same time, my father-in-law entered hospice and unfortunately died. We have been stretched very thin! I was really in need of something to do and kept seeing chicken mentions.

I ended up making two chickens out of scrap yarn (a skein from a guild member and the rest from working our way through the book) to keep me distracted.

It really is a good project for that. It’s almost all short rows and requires enough attention to be engrossing but is ultimately quite simple. Bonus that it isn’t cold weather gear!

Before I made the chickens, I eased into knit animal making with a trio of tiny shrimp.

Surf and turf??

I’m tempted to make another chicken but three seems like a lot. Is there similar project out there?
