We went to the beach today and on our way back did a little detour to Knits and Pieces.

We hadn’t been before and thought it would be worth checking out. It’s a little far from us to go regularly but they do offer classes and if we liked it, we figured it might be worth it to make the drive.
It was a cute little store in sort of a grungy strip mall. Unlike most of the yarn stores we’ve been to in the past I think it really caters to a higher end clientele with an eye to more of what I think of as fashion knitting. They had a lot of international knitting books, a lot of higher end notions, and the full range of some fancier national brands of yarn. 99% of it was for knitting but they did have a couple fancy crochet kits and a couple books.

The staff was friendly and outgoing but not pushy. One woman told Matt about a beginner sock pattern she liked. I did find it hard to find prices on some items which I don’t love. We really didn’t need anything though, this was our third yarn store in a week!
I think I’d be happy to take a class there if they had something that fit our schedule and interested either of us.
It was nice to see some really full lines of yarn like Dream in Color or Malabrigo because I see a lot of patterns that call for it specifically and most stores I’ve been to don’t carry it at all or in limited quantities or color ways.
