Today we went to the American Swedish Historical Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to see the Radically Marimekko exhibit.

It isn’t a huge museum but very well laid out and informative. In the past I’ve attending some holiday events but it was still worth a visit even when nothing else was going on.
There was a lot of textile related content! The other big exhibit was Weaving a New Chapter: The Material Lives of Swedish Immigrants which had examples of crochet, weaving, sewing and even hair weaving.

They also had an example of an idealized Swedish cabin with a loom and spinning wheel.

This was interesting—it was the sketch for a tapestry and then they painted it. That’s why the text is reversed.

A rug-

And some fabric panels

It was a fun way to spend the afternoon!
